Parent Focus: Managing Benefits

Reporting Changes to the Division of Public Assistance (DPA)

If your child has Medicaid coverage, he or she needs to report any changes that could affect eligibility within 10 days of when they know about the change. You and your child's other parent must also report changes if you live with the child and your child either gets income-based Medicaid coverage or is under 18.

You can report these changes to the Division of Public Assistance (DPA) by calling 1-800-478-7778, by fax to 1-888-269-6520, by email to hss.dpa.offices@alaska.gov, or in person at any Division of Public Assistance (DPA) office.

Reporting changes for other programs

Programs like Adult Public Assistance (APA), SNAP, Alaska Temporary Assistance Program (ATAP), and Medicaid have different rules about the kinds of changes you need to report. When there's a change that may affect your eligibility or benefit amount, you must report within 10 days of when you know about the change. For ATAP, you must report within five days if a child moves out of your home. Get more information in DPA's Reporting Changes Pamphlet.
